OH is Very worried but I don't want to go to the doctor about yet something else. Five time in in the last 24 hours I've had the most excruciating head pain. It has only lasted one or two seconds each time but has been bad enough for me to shout out about the pain, I'm keeping fingers crossed that it won't happen again. Any thoughts as to what it might be?

AJ, what are your levels like have you tested them at any of the times you had the pain, when i am running high sometimes I get such sharp shooting pains in my head.Other then that I can only think stress could be an option? If your OH is worried then maybe a quick call to NHS direct could help.Maybe try lying down with a wet cloth on your head and empty your head of everything.

Hi Steff thanks for your suggestions...BGs are some of the best that I've had and I've just had a week off work so stress levels are low. I'm really loathe to contact a medical professional because I don't want to be diagnosed with yet another thing but OH wants me to be checked

I'm sorry to hear this Amanda :( Can you give NHS Direct a call perhaps? Although I suspect they will simply tell you to go and get things checked out. Are any of your medications listed as having this as a potential side-effect? Sorry I can't be much help, I've never experienced anything like this, and I do understand your partner's concern. I can also understand your reluctance, given all you have been through, but it may just be one of those things that can be easily treated - and the sooner the better. Hope you are feeling better soon!

Thanks Alan not gone on any new medications for a month but several can cause headaches:( Guess if there any more head pains (that are worse than usual) in the next day or two then I should go to the doctors. I just wanted to manage a three month block without something new being wrong.....and I need to wait another four weeks to have had three months without a problem. Will keep my fingers and toes crossed that the bad pain doesn't come again. Thank you for your concern

Hi Amanda. I personally wouldn't hesitate to go to a doctor.

If you think of it as an open wound that was gushing blood every so often, you'd go to get it treated, no matter what the cause and potential diagnosis.

Because it can't be seen and can only be felt by you doesn't diminish its seriousness. Or as Northerner says, its possible triviality.

If you're afraid of a diagnosis then you must believe it could be serious. In which case delaying it may make it worse or mean you suffer with it for longer.

I hope you dont get any more but if you do, please don't ignore it.🙂

Rob

Personally I'd go to the doctors. It might be nothing , or it could be something. It is worth it for your peace of mind.

Thanks Rob and Caroline. The short intense pain each time really did scare me- guess I've been a bit paranoid about things since the blood clot caused the sight problems - I will definitely go to the doctor if I get any more of these specific pains in the hope that she will say that it is nothing to worry about - but they have scared me

Hi Amanda - sorry to hear about this, but you say the pains have scared you and if they have scared you then surely you need to be seen straight away.
As my mum always said - look after yourself and yourself will look after you.
Also a quick visit to the GP could take away all the worry you now have 🙂
Sending you a <<hug>>🙂

I agree as the pains scared you don't wait, go now. Our doctors get paid to look after us, so don't worry about pestering yours, go and get things checked out.

As an after thought, and I hope I'm barking up the wrong tree, when you got the pains, were there any flashing or flickering lights near you? If there were definitely see your doctor and menttion the lights.

Amanda how are you feeling has the head pain still been present today? x

Thanks Lucy, Caroline and Steff - I'm really, really pleased to say that there has been no more severe head pain - I'm really relieved because it was so scary. Thank you everyone for all of your supportive messages.

Glad it seems to have gone, just a thought, have you considered it might have been caused by a tooth disturbance or a blocked sinus, sometimes referred pain can be hard to locate.
