The local hospital is in lock down, I've been told to go to the Queen Elizabeth in Glasgow for day surgery tomorrow. It's not called the Death Star for nothing. I feel like I'm being set up to catch the virus. Go blind or risk getting infected and dying. I don't like my odds. Worried to the point of a panic attack. I'm 47/f no family, just me.

It's your choice whether to have surgery or not 🙂 So if you don't want the surgery then cancel it problem solved. Only down side is someone else cold have had that place as it's such short notice.

Love your login name I have a chocolate Labradorable 🙂

My vision is limited in my right eye and I really don't want to go blind! It's injections into both eyes though.

I'm going to go, . I'm just resigned to the fact that the risks are very high.

Hello again,
I'm sure you will be fine. Whilst waiting for a scan a couple of years ago people were sitting in the waiting room whilst a nurse put eye drops in and then the patient went in had the injections and came out again, so hopefully all will be fine. (((((((((((hugs))))))))))

this virus is a real threat, and we have to take this extremely serious. But try not to worry too much. The worst country in the world is Italy and our hearts go out to them, every death is awful.
But they have as of yesterday almost 5,000 deaths from a population of 60 million that works out at 0.0083% less than 1 in 10,000.
this isn't ment to belittle the horrendous situation they're in, but just give you a little reassurance.

Hopefully the hospital have introduced extra measures to try and limit the risk. Try not to focus on the reputation of the hospital too much, most if not all in our area have a bad reputation in one area or another. Just make as many precautions as you can yourself and good luck hoping the op is successful.

Hello @Labradorable welcome to the forum.🙂 I think you have made the right choice and I hope it will all go well for you, don`t forget to take dark glasses with you incase that great fireball in the sky is showing its face, best wishes.

Yes, Good advice from peeps here - Just be aware of your surrounding and where you place your hands. avoid touching your face, use the hand sanitizers around the hospital in and going out. Use your elbow/knuckle to hit elevator buttons/door opening panels etc - just a few precautions on your part will greatly reduce cross contamination. One good thing is, its a department that infected people are not sent to....I would be more worried going to A&E or designated virus ward. Good luck - you will be in and out of there in no time - please let us know how it all goes.

The risks aren’t very high. A quick in out and use the hand wash everywhere, specially when you leave. There’s one in every room - mind, that’s not new, they’ve always been there.

As an added thought to cheer you up a bit more, the Dr doing the injection is the same you saw in your local clinic.

Hope the op went well @Labradorable

Let is know how it went and how you are doing 🙂
