Evening everyone....not feeling right tonight........normnaly love fridays but feel...to be honest a bit low and a bit odd??....not about diabetes...had very hard week at work, very physical and mentaly exhausting....not been able to check bloods as waiting for doc to prescribe srtips, been wakeing up every night about 1.00am every night and wide awake till about 3.00am then have to get up for 5.30am....and been going to bed early as so tired...never felt like this before....i have noticed been going to toilet i.e peeing loads and drinking lots of water during the night which also keeps me awake......and all in all not my self....so anoying as just as i feel better something like this happens...also as i type this i feel tingling in my toes and fingers...just needed to get it of my chest sorry folks. 🙂

Sorry to hear this Ant :( Sounds like your levels may be running high, when do you next have an appointment? Try to keep your carb intake to a minimum, this should help with the levels, and if you can get some exercise in (a good walk in the fresh air, for example) that should help too.

Hope you get chance to recuperate over the weekend 🙂

Sound VERY much to me like too high BG ......

Try ringing Abbott on Monday and seeing if you can get a meter out of them free? - they only come with 10 test strips, but 10 is an improvement on Nil. Plus if you want to buy extra strips till you can see what if anything your doc is prepared to do, they are more like ?14 than ?24 as some of em are.

There are also cheaper meters with cheaper strips. I can't vouch for them as not experienced using them, but I know the Abbott meters are just 100% as good as anything else on the market, even much dearer ones.

You can use this link to get a free Abbott meter:

An alternative cheap meter (i.e. cheap strips!) is the SD Codefree Meter with test strips at ?6.99 for 50. One or two members have this and haven't reported any problems.

thanks for quick response...really feel odd...going for a ly down even typing hard work blurry rtx..

If I would you I'd be ringing NHS Direct. Without testing equipment, you are totally in the dark. You might be high, and in danger of ketoacidosis, or you could be low, and the only way to find out is to test. Your GP should be struck off in my opinion.
If you have someone who can take you to an urgent care centre then that would be an option I'd be seriously considering.

Please don't just go to sleep feeling like this.

Hi Mary, Ant is Type 2 and is not on insulin, so not in danger of DKA, and unlikely to be suffering hypos.

Hi Ant

I'm glad you are feeling better today. I felt like this LOADS when I first went onto meds. Felt bad when my bs was high and shakey and icky when it went down a bit as my body wasn't used to it.

I was given a free contour meter by the diabetes dept in the hospital. maybe you could get one too?

I notice you say you are seeing your dr at end of month for review of new blood pressure meds...could it be these meds making you feel icky? Maybe your BP is too low??
