went to the clinic today and pump has been put on hold agen grrrrr
They will have to order one as the one I was to get in Aug had been given to someone else and with it being so long since I had the CBM on the Doctor said that she wanted that done agen for a week, as my bloods had been up and down a bit and, but there is now a wating list with another 4 people wanting that done and they dont have one just yet they are going to see if they can get another CBM but it might be the begining of next year.
But in the mean time they have orderd the pump I have said that I would have the accu chek combo meter that goes with the sprit pomp as the meter is the same as the expert that I am using now. There are only one clinic a month and with having to wate untill I have the CBM on agen they dident think that it would be this year.
And she then said that it would be a trile for 6 months and if things did not improve then I would have to give it back😱
So just getting a bit sick off this now got all set agen for the pump and I have been let down agen just feel a bit deflated now this is c**p:confused:
Sorry for the rant but now realy dont know how I feel.

I'm really sorry to hear you are getting such a runaround :( It sounds very much to me like they are stalling. I think it would be worth getting in touch with the people at Input and telling them your story, they will know what steps you can take next:

http://www.input.me.uk/contact-us/

Don't let them grind you down!

So sorry to hear this Grandma :(

And a 6-month trial seems very short... It seems it can take that long to get the pump set up in the first place!

Hope you have some better news soon. Don't give up on it...

M

This really is bollards, isn't it? Utter and complete ....

I was gonna say the same as Northie Carol - contact Input, for goodness sake.

Sorry you didnt get your pump. I have only been on cgm for five days once in my life & that was 1.5years after i went on pump ! They sound like they dont know what to do next ! GOOD LUCK ! 🙂🙂🙂 ps the cost of messing around with cgm isnt good.

Grandma, how awful for you

It's time to contact INPUT and get them involved, don't worry about contacting them they are really nice people.. (I've on several occasions spoken to John, who is just so reasurring)

As all this have to have bloods, CGM's etc before getting your pump is a load of rubbish, designed to stall funding only.. I've never been near a CGM monitor.. Only ever seen them on the internet!

And I would also speak to your MP concerning this as well rally him/her to aid you...

Hold on in there...

frankly, this is s**t..........

they shouldn't give you hope then rip it away from you.............

I hope your wait is not long.............🙂

thanks everyone I just feel that down today the way she was talking it was as if I was a bit thick and would not be able to bo the pump, I know form reading all your poasts that it takes a lot of work but I am willing to to that.
I think it was because she had given the other one to someone else and now I have to wate untill they order another, did get a choice this time as to witch one I would like. But thats no concelation for what she implyed just felt it was a wasted day gong all that way and realy nothing to show for it except being told off for trying toget things right in the first place she said that I had been moving the ratios around and I had to look for a patton well I have I have been wating a week or more before the change then she said I was testing too mutch and have the Doctors not said anything as the test strips are expencive. I said that I test because I drive and whant to make sure that I am ok do do that she then said well dont test so mutch.
Just felt like a little girl at school not getting her home work right:confused:

How many times a day do you test grandma ?

If you go on a pump, they say 7 or 8 times a day. Does she think you'll only have to test a couple of times ?

I test about that now as the 3 times a day I eat and then when I go out to drive so I dont think I test to mutch some days I dont go out so dont test as mutch think the least I test in 1 day is 6 the most 10 depending on how many times I go out🙄

That's not testing too much at all. It really annoys me when people who don't have diabetes imply that you are obsessive or whatever for testing more than 3 or 4 times a day - it is totally unrealistic! According to my meter software I have tested 6.1 times a day on average since I was diagnosed. Some days I maybe test 4 times, and some days 7 or 8, but bearing in mind that I am lucky and my levels are pretty easy to predict and control and some people have much greater problems (or need to test for driving etc.) it's nonsense to say you are testing too much. Do they think you enjoy it? It hurts!

They really should walk a day in our shoes...:(

And don't ever let them make you feel small or ignorant - that is highly unprofessional, totally unhelpful, and amounts to bullying in my book! 😡

Grandma,
to find a pattern you need to test on waking before meals and 2 hours after and bed time. Oh and do some night time tests as well. 🙂
Write all your results down what you (carb content and type of carb) Record all your carb ratios and correction doses. This then proves you know what you are talking about. Obviously also test before driving as you are quite rightly doing.
Obviously no one can guarantee that your dsn understands results/carb ratios etc. The normal rule of thumb is, if the hcp is rude/unhelpful it's their way of showing they are well out of their depth.

well thanks just carnt get my head round it getting pump not getting pump at first getting pump in 2 week now not getting pump untill next year and the 2 week lasted 3 months so the only thing that makes me laugh at the moment is that my little grandson last week said that we had to give the pump a name when I got it and as the last time I had the CBM on they called me bionick grandma this should be the same antibiotic grandma I was in stiches but we are now going to call it ETHALL.

Really sorry to hear this tale of woe Grandma. Is there any one else you can see at the clinic who may be more enlightened than this woman?

Just to add that I test about the same amount and have been told it's too often several times until I pointed out the lowering of my HbA1c. If you can show them that you can understand the patterns and how the insulin and carbs work as you are, then they can't say that you won't understand on a pump. It's basically the same thing but you'll need to be able to adjust as you go.

If there's any bits that you're not sure of, post up in the pumping section and all the lovely pumpers will explain it. Then you can go back to them and bomboozle them with your expert knowledge ! :D

Don't give up.

Rob

My daughter was put in the combo pump in February without needing CGM first. I did an awful lot of shouting and complaining to get there but it worked in the end. Don't give up - Kate was against having one at first, it was more of a safety reason as she kept have terrible prolonged hypos. It is now her best friend and she wouldn't be without it!!

yes thanks I am having hypos not prolonged but a lot

Sadly, the DSNs and consultants are human, which means some are going to have poor people skills and decide to favour some and not others.

I can only suggest you keep pushing and pushing like others have said. Or ask them to tell you what you should do and when they can't make it work they might realise the pump is the only answer.

They can't criticise you for not doing it how they want if they won't then support you. It has to be one or the other.😡
