Good luck Heather. I'm sure if you show you've a real conviction / plan of action with regard to managing your condition, have read up and can state your case, it will make all the difference. I managed to convince the surgery, after being told 'no', three times in total. I went on to test, nearly halved my HB1AC, reduced all the other relevant numbers, have lost a considerable amount of weight....but only since testing !

Plug away till they give you what you NEED !

not much I can add, except my Doc is against self testing, but I just kept asking for the scripts and he relented, after several years of bad control I now test every morning at least and my control is massively better, and because I know I am going to test next morning, it tends to help me behave so for that reason alone, testing works, so go back, tell him that you are suffering financially but don't want to stop and can you please have the scripts, good luck 🙂

That's a start Heather - well done !

Helen

Well done Heather. Keep at it. Patient polite persistence is the answer. 🙂

Since I've been doing lots of testing over past 3 months I've spent a fortune on test strips My surgery just arnt interested in prescribing them for the usual reasons. The price of a box of 50 varies so much it's ridiculous I've bought them for as 'little' as £15 (because the assistant accidentally sold them trade price) to almost £30 in Boots Obviously not bought from there. I've had a pharmacy ask what I usually pay prepared to do a deal! Then I found one that charges £22 which I've stuck with Just seen a thread on here about the Codefree so have ordered one from amazon Can't believe how cheap strips are by comparison and wish I'd seen it sooner Hoping anyone else who pays more will take advantage of the savings
