night readings

been trying to sort my sons basal out dont know what to make of these readings
he had his last meal at 17:30 he was 11.2 mmol
at 20:46 he was 5.2 and had his levimir at 22:14 he was 5.0 nice
then at 1:44 he was 8.4 then he woke this morning at 4.6
does this seem about right why the peak of 8.4 any help thanks🙂
oh yea forgot he had scrammbled eggs for supper

Perhaps that would account for the rise during the night? Did you put milk in the eggs mixture? Also, does he normally have his levemir so late?We were told 9pm as this is Alex's bedtime usually. Bev

If he was late with the levemir that could potentially account for the peak, the basal insulins can act differently in different people so he could have been having a period where the previous dose had 'run out' and the late one hadn't kicked in yet meaning he rose a little. Aslo, the scrambled eggs could account for it, especially if you used milk. Still, not a disasterous peak by any means and his readings are looking pretty good.

Wow they sound very good readings for an overnight especially on injections. One thing that I always forgot is that non diabetics (ie you I am presuming and myself and Bev) also go up and down. I never thought about that at all. If we did a graph of our own levels we would be up and down as well, not flat. Also with children they produce growth hormones at night which alter the levels so they have that to contend with.

As Bev has said the milk will have affected the levels especially if full fat milk but what time did you give the scambled eggs and did he have toast with it or just scrambled eggs (with milk)? There are loads and loads of factors to think about but a spike of 8.4 is a lovely low spike, I would be very happy with that.

If you think the levels are low you could always talk to your DSN about changing the Lantus to the morning
