Hi, newbie here. I agreed to be referred by my GP for the NHS soups and shakes programme. I am really struggling to find any feedback from people, or forums to join, so I can find out more from people who are doing the programme or who have done it. Any pointers are very welcome. Thanks

Ah - you are more likely to get advice on how to control your diabetes on this forum.

I think @RonW wrote about shakes recently. I’m not sure if that’s the same as the regime you’re talking about. They’re not the only person I’ve seen. Hopefully some will be along soon.

Welcome to the forum @Hec 🙂

Hi. The NHS does come up with some strange advice for diabetes. My advice would be to keep the Carbs down in your diet to help with blood sugar and weight control. As long as the soups and shakes are low'ish carb then fine. If not look elsewhere.

I think @ColinUK and @travellor had good success with the Newcastle style restricted calorie shakes approach.

The results of the DIRECT trial have certainly been very encouraging.

I did the diet on my own, years ago.
I reversed my diabetes, it's an excellent choice.
Only word of warning, follow the diet.
You will get many advising they couldn't do it, it's high carb, you can't stay on it forever, and other such things. I got them all. I decided that may work for some, but it leads to a diet for life.
My goal was to reverse my diabetes, and go back to a normal diet.
This did it for me.
