Relationship to Diabetes
At risk of diabetes
Hi. I have been prediabetes for a year and had a blood test last week which come back 48 I have been asked to repeat this next week to confirm diabetes. I've been getting prickly feet the last few weeks and seriously aching lower legs also very tired. Cholesterol is 6.9 also. I'm 42 and feel lost. I suffer with anxiety so I'm googling every symptom I'm getting I'm sure it's making everything worse

Hi dazzler68, welcome to the forum.

It's natural to feel worried and lost when first diagnosed so you're not alone. It's good to hear that they're doing a second test as it will be a bit more reassuring to have a firm diagnosis and you'll be able to ask them about managing your symptoms.

48 is just above the threshold of diagnosis so there are things you can do to lower your numbers such as reducing the sugar and carbs you intake.

It's easier said than done but try not to use Dr Google as you'll end up with all sorts of aliments that you'll never have! Write down your thoughts and concerns so you can share them with your GP and get them off of your mind for a bit.

We're right here with you along this journey regardless of the outcome of your test so do keep us updated and reach out for some support.
