Hi, after having blood tests I have just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, my GP informed me that I will be attending clinic in the new year at the surgery. I have other health issues COPD and Angina, so just a bit overwhelmed at the moment, but trying to stay positive!
Anyway back to my intro, I am a 55 year old female living in South East England, married with grown up children and two dogs!
I will be most interested in how others manage their diabetes together with any advice etc, thanks, Carolyn M

Hi Carolyn, welcome to the forum 🙂 Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, how did it come about? It's not a great thing to hear that you have another serious condition to go with your other troubles, but the good thing about diabetes is that it is something that can be controlled well with the right knowledge and application 🙂

To give you a good understanding of how to approach things, I'd recommend reading Jennifer's Advice and Maggie Davey's letter - both excellent introductions, and getting a copy of Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year by Gretchen Becker, none better for explaining things in a positive, proactive way 🙂

If you have any concerns or questions, please do ask - nothing is considered a 'silly' question, so if it is bothering you let us know and we will do our best to help. It can be a complex subject at times, especially to begin with, but take things at your own pace and pipe up when you have a problem with anything 🙂

Hi Carolyn and welcome to the forum. I was diagnosed as type 2 in august but they think I may be slow onset type 1 now. This forum is great for advice and help. I know it has helped me through the struggles I faced at first.
