Hello @betheaton welcome to the forum from a fellow T1.

Stick with your hospital team and gain a good repour with your DSN, (Diabetic Specialist Nurse)
but most of all stick with the forum. This is the place where you will gain most of your knowledge
and gain a virtual family where you can come to 24/7. Thankyou for joining the forum and when you
go back to uni don`t forget we will still be here for you. Stay safe.

Newly diagnosed type 1 diabetic here! Had to deal with the diagnosis alone due to coronavirus and have been in hospital since Friday morning due to having DKA. Been discharged and feeling pretty apprehensive about managing life outside of hospital. Has anyone got any useful advice or hacks which would make my life easier? Thanks!
Welcome Beth

Hi and thanks to everydayupsanddowns for the link to T1Resources - I'd not heard of it until now but there's a stack of good stuff in there! I've been diagnosed 4 years so still plenty for me to learn too....

Hi @betheaton , I hope that things are beginning to settle down now. It is good that you have some time to get used to things before you go back to uni, and all that we do really will just be part of your new ‘normal’ life. How are things going?

The best analogy I was given is that it is like learning to drive. It seems really complicated at first and then most of what we do just becomes automatic. Your focus is then just on anticipating the obstacles along the way and dealing with them as they arise.

Keep in touch and keep firing questions at us.
