Hi all,

My partner has just been diagnosed type 2 diabetes and at the moment everything seems so complicated and overwhelming.

I have joined the forum in a hope of being able to ask questions, get advice and just learn everything as new information is given to us.

I am now just over three years from diagnosis, and in remission. Being very sensitive to carbs I chose to eat under 40 gm of carbs a day to be sure of remaining in the normal range.
Do you know your partners Hba1c at diagnosis? It helps to know the starting point to fine tune advice.
Are there any dietary restrictions, any medication?
Welcome to the forum, and I hope that in a year or so all will be very ordinary for you.

Hi and welcome, you will find loads of information and support here so feel free to ask any questions you have :D

Hello @hutt678

Welcome to the forum!

I completely understand your feelings. A diagnosis with diabetes can be very stressful and overwhelming, so it’s great that you have connected here. I hope the forum gives you lots of extra information and support.

Many T2 members here have found Gretchen Becker’s book ‘T2 diabetes the first year’ an easy to understand and clear explanation of T2.

You might also find Maggie Davey’s letter to the newly diagnosed a helpful overview
