Hi, new to this group (f, 53). Diagnosed just before the pandemic. My sugar number is currently 49 (the last time I had bloods done) which my dr says he's happy with and I don't need meds, but...I recently went to hospital with a horrendous pain just under my left rib. My pancreatic enzyme levels were elevated and they didn't seem to believe I'm teetotal. I have to have more investigations but they think it's acute Pancreatitis. I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this.

Welcome @kylablueeyes 🙂 Sorry to hear you’ve been in such pain. There are people here who’ve had or have problems with their pancreas. Hopefully some will be along later.

Hi @kylablueeyes, welcome to the forum! Your current HbA1C readings are really good and I am very sorry to hear of everything that you are going through with your pancreatitis. I wish you all the best with your further investigations. There are definitely others on our forum that have experienced this and will gladly provide insight. If you need some support in the meantime, there's a charity called Guts UK that have a support line. We (Diabetes UK) also have a helpline 0345 123 2399 with advisors that would gladly be of assistance if you needed to talk to someone about this too. I wish you all the best and we are always here to help. Take care

Evidently I have the pancreas of a chronic alcoholic due to totally painless autoimmune pancreatitis.

A former colleague of mine had acute and
painful pancreatitis which cleared up after he gave up fatty foods. He was on Creon for a while but now all is well.

Welcome @kylablueeyes
My diabetes was caused by pancreatitis. In my case it was severe, with a long hospital stay. I don't have much pancreas left.

I don't remember much about being in A&E but I clearly remember being interrogated about my alcohol intake (very low!) so it looks like they like to rule this out as a cause.

Hoping that it is much less painful now and that everything settles down quickly for you.

Sorry to hear about your pain and possible pancreatitis @kylablueeyes

Hope you are able to get the pain under control. Let us know the result of the investigations - we have a few members of the forum with pancreatitis, and Type 3c diabetes.
