hello everyone, i wonder if anyone here can help me answer some questions.
from late 2015 i started getting symptoms that i thought were related to a food allergy. i was bloated and gassy, and found that my sinuses and / or soft palate would swell up, leaving me unable to breathe through my nose. the GP told me to take a food diary, and look for patterns but it didn't really help. during this process i started getting neuropathy in my feet, shortly after this we discovered that i was t2 diabetic and this was confirmed in Spring 2016. Since then I have been on metformin, cut out sugar, and taken up exercise. Generally I feel much better, and have lost weight and gained energy and all that, and the symptoms went away - so i assumed that it was a diabetic symptom.
but over the last few weeks the bloating and sinus swelling has started again. it sometimes happens after food, most commonly in the evenings, but also when i haven't eaten at all recently. sometimes i'll wake up in the middle of the night unable to breath through my nose and choking. i squirt some sudafed up my nose and that soon makes the swellings go down and i can get back to sleep. sometimes i go for days without symptoms, other times it's bad all day. today i have felt great all day, but since dinner (falafels and salad) i have felt bloated and uncomfortable, but my breathing is fine. i haven't changed my diet or washing powder, have no allergies, haven't brought anything new into the house or anything else like that.
does anyone else have symptoms like this? should i be worried or is this just something that happens? if it is diabetes related, why has it come back?
thanks in advance for any information.
