Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi guys
My name is Diane but please call me Di.
I am type 2 diabetic & have been for 15 yrs. In November 2021 I had my first DKA. It was the most awful experience I have had in many many years and very frightening. My diabetes has since taken a turn for the worse & I am now on so much more insulin, but they suspect I may be insulin resistant.
If anyone would like to know anymore please ask.

Good morning @Di-Fitz2712 and welcome to the forum. T2 diabetes is more complicated than some would have you believe and there are many who do not easily fit into the standard box. If you tell us a little more about yourself and your diabetes history then I am sure members with the same background will be around to share their experiences.

Look forward to hearing more from you.

Hello Di, welcome to the forum.

Really sorry to hear about your DKA. Did you get any warning signs, which in hindsight you might have responded to differently?

I'm curious (hopefully not too nosy). With your original T2 diagnosis we're you started on insulin straightaway or has your medication altered over the last 15 years? Are you under your GP or a Diabetes Specialist Team based at a Hospital?

Hi Di, Welcome to the forum.

Glad to hear that you've found us as it sounds as though some support would be quite helpful at the moment.

I wonder how you were initially diagnosed and whether they've discussed what the next steps will be?

We've got a wealth of experience on the site so feel free to share a bit more about yourself and let us know if there's anything we can help with.
