What's caused you to take it seriously now Bob? I was diagnosed in 2012 and have recently started taking mine seriously due to a big rise in my hba1c.

I got an infection in a toe, was admitted to hospital, lots of talk about amputations but came away with antibiotics and foot intact. Scared me senseless.

Hi Bob - you could do a lot worse than start again as it were and sign yourself up to the Learning Zone (orange tab in horizontal menu at the top of every forum page) and either refresh your memory/start learning from a very reliable source!
