Type 2
Hello

I’ve just joined this I’m a type 2 diabetic diagnosed in December after being on my anti rejection meds for the last 8 years
I was started on insulin in December all very new to me just wanted to say hello and hope to be able to chat with others

Hi and welcome to the forum @Wilma62. 🙂

I'm glad that you have found us. How have you been finding things? You're still new to life with diabetes so you must have lots of questions, feel free to get involved and ask around on the forum. There are no silly questions here.

Hello Wilma62, welcome to the site.

I hope you're getting to grips with everything as it can be quite challenging in the first few months.

Were you given your HbA1c number? It's the results of your blood test which will help to see where you are and where you need to be.

If there's anything we can do to assist you on this journey, do let us know.

Hi @Wilma62 and welcome to the forum.
Sorry to hear that your Type 2 diabetes is bad enough for you to be given Insulin.
I decided to go down the non-medication route and so adopted a Low Carbohydrate way of eating (not a calorie controlled diet - though it did make me lose weight as well as contolling my Blood Sugar).
I am now 'non-diabetic' or 'normal' so far as the HbA1C test is concerned, but feel that I will always be extra sensitive to carbohydrates, so my Low Carb way of eating is for life - a long and healthy one!

Hi everyone thank you
In December my HBC1A was 116
Roll onto 3 months later in March I got down to 47 and my insulin was reduced to 14 units then this month I had another 3 month check which was early and my results of my HBC1A came back at 39 so my insulin reduced to 12 units I have cut out most things and gone on to brown pasta always had whole meal seeded bread and cut out biscuits as well I do loads of walking my DN is happy with my results and I’m having my next lots of bloods done in February next year.
One thing I’ve noticed is I’m sweating so badly at any time throughout the day not sure if this is diabetes related do any of you get this I did wonder if it is because my insulin is being reduced I’m not sure
It will be nice chatting to others about this condition and learning more thank you

Hi Wilma62 I am new on here too and I’m hoping to learn more useful information from everyone and looking forward to meeting people too welcome

So - when you get the sweats - test your BG to see whether that has shot up - or down!

My doctor told me I was not diabetic any more after my recent hbA1c test.
I told him I think I am but using a BG monitor, initially, knowing my diet and with regular exercise I am controlling it. I said if I eat carbs in any form I get high BG readings. I was quite taken aback by what he said. Are they really not informed.
