Hello everyone, I was diagnosed T2 yesterday. I have been following slimming world since Jan and lost 20lb but now I'm worried because I need to reduce carbs. My numbers were 48 and should be under 41.
Anyway thanks for reading

Hello Colleen, sorry I won't be any help as I've just joined today but just want to say how well you've done in losing so much weight!

It really is overwhelming and I'm feeling a bit tearful about things tonight but I'm going to get my head right and research more tomorrow. No doubt we'll see each other around the boards!

Aww thank you. Its a lot to get your head around isn't it x.
It is fantastic you have lost the weight and that must have helped with your blood glucose levels as you are just on the cusp at 48mmol/mol. Whatever you have been doing with following S W seems to be working for you. If you are using preprepared meals then there is good nutritional information so you could look for those with lower carbs or just have half a portion and bulk out with vegetables or salads to reduce the carbs or if you are cooking their recipes from scratch then look for some lower carb substitutes for things like rice. potatoes and pasta.
With some moderate dietary changes you should be able to get to your target without medication. If you can increase your exercise that also helps. Many people find success with low carb, higher fat regime in lowering blood glucose and losing weight.
I'm sure a few other people will chip in with some suggestions and are always there to answer any specific questions you have. But just take it day by day.

Hello and welcome. 🙂

Welcome to the forum @Colleenmarie

And congrats on your weight loss. Hopefully that will be helping your insulin sensitivity 🙂

Sounds like just a little adjustment to your SW plan might help to reduce your averages from the brink of diabetes down below the ‘at risk’ value of 42.

If you can let folks know what your SW meals look like they may be able to offer you some suggestions for swaps and tweaks (eg cauliflower ‘rice’ or mash).

Hi there @Colleenmarie
