Hi Karen and welcome to the forum.

I receive my copy of Balance as I am a member of Diabetes UK. I think it is also possible to purchase copies. I will flag @Josh DUK who will know.

There is loads of information to be gathered from others on here, who are managing their Diabetes day-to-day. I think I have learnt so many useful strategies from others on here. Have a read through the various threads.

You might also find the Learning Zone useful (scroll up to the top of the page and it is highlighted in an orange box. The information is given for different types of diabetes and with clear explanations.

Any questions that you have just fire away. Nothing is considered silly on here. just ask.

Welcome to the forum @Karen2068

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis with T2 :(

If you would like a good overview of T2 diabetes, to add to the knowledge you’ve already picked up, members here frequently recommend Maggie Davey’s Letter and Gretchen Becker’s book T2 Diabetes, the first year, which you can work through gradually and will give you a solid starting point.

Diabetes is a serious condition, but it’s also one that can usually be managed well with a few changes and adaptations - it’s something that you can learn to live well with, and it shouldn’t stop you doing things you enjoy. Try not to be disheartened about your diagnosis, many people on the forum later reflect that their diagnosis became a catalyst which prompted them to make positive changes towards a healthier and more active life. Perhaps changes that they had been intending to make for years.

Ask away with any questions you have - we are a friendly bunch, and there are literally centuries of lived diabetes experience on the forum. No questions will be considered too obvious or ‘silly’ 🙂
