Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi all.
I have been a type 2 since 2007. My last visit to diabetic nurse said my sugar levels are too high so have been told to double my dose SR metformin. I have been previously on linagliptin which kept my levels within range. No idea why they took me off this tablet, anyone else with same problem? Also has anyone been suffering with a itchy calf which turns into sores when itching becomes unbearable. My relief is to use aloe Vera liquid.
Look forward to a reply.

I scratched myself into wheals when taking Metformin ordinary and Atorvastatin - luckily I did not need them, as simply cutting right down on carbohydrate in my diet got me down to the top edge of normal - it doesn't seem to want to go lower, but it seems fine to me.
Perhaps taking a count of all the starches and sugars you are eating in a day could show you where cutting back could drop your blood glucose.
It helps if you have a meter. I divide my carbs unevenly as I was far more resistant in the mornings than the evenings, so I eat about 10 gm of carbs in the morning and around 25gm in the evening.

Hello all , Its about time to take control, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 14 years ago, at that time I was a publican, and a girlfriend booked an appointment with a chiropodist , he said its a freezing day outside , and he said why are you soaking in sweat, he gave me a blood prick test in my finger and it showed a reading of 32 was told
that is very high ! then said I was drinking about 5 litres of coke daily, he took my car keys from me and called 999, an ambulance turned up, and sped me to hospital, they run tests on me and said, yep your diabetic,
gave me some health advice, a box of metformin, and some humolog insulin and then sent me home! I kept wanting to sleep, for a year I lost 4 stone in weight,
eating the right foods, then the doctors said I was type 1 with insulin, changed my meds, but my blood has never been below 10, so then stupidly, I just decided,
to just take the metformin on a one a day situation, have been feeling ok for the last 10 years, BUT Now I am now feeling a prat ! My Feet have started to hurt so much, that I can't sleep at night, the pain is so extreme, that the feeling is that they are in a being tightened every night! I have now to give up work, for the moment, as this pain is affecting me so bad! i have heard horror stories saying you will lose your feet soon, your toes will start to go black and fall off! Just the sort of thing that I am thinking when I am in pain at night, I have just relocated to a new part of the country, and just registered at a new doctor! , I have had to admit to the receptionist, I AM PRAT CAN YOU HELP ME IN SOME WAY? Waiting for a appointment in the next few days , got to explain , that i have been buying metformin of the internet and havent been to a doctor in 10 years ,
if you read my story , and you feel the same way , or been a idiot like me , Dont See your Doctor ASAP ! Thanks

Hi @nosugar and welcome to the forum, have to say that like Drummer I also follow a low carb diet and have my bloods back in normal range, luckily I haven’t had any issues with itching 😉

Hi @DuctRat sorry to hear about the feet, hope it’s nothing they can’t put right for you and that you get things back on track going forward o_O

Hi @nosugar , feet lower legs are at risk, blood sugar control is crucial. Do you test?
