Oh I definitely rattle lol

Hello Teena and welcome to the forum 🙂

Hi Teena

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear that you have been having difficulties. The pump will give you the chance to review your basal rates, carb ratios and sensitivity. It requires a bit of work but is well worth getting it matched to your individual needs.

hope it goes ok like I said in another thread it takes getting used to but once you do you will love it

Hi, I’m a type 1 have been for 14 years, was diagnosed when I was 10. I cope well some weeks but others I really can’t deal with it all! The injections, blood sugars, ahhhhh 😡 I had my annual eye test and have been booked in for laser eye surgery next Monday! My kidneys are also leaking protein because of the diabetes and I just feel like it’s all getting on top of me!!! I really want the pump could you tell me if it helps/helping with control?? Thankyou

Hello and welcome to the forum 🙂
Sorry to hear you've had such a bad time, but hopefully you will find support and understanding on here.

Hi @Paige , I can’t help with the pump but I know others here can.
I am sorry to hear you’re struggling, it gets to us all at times, but from what you’ve said it seems that it’s more than just getting a bit fed up with it. Do you have a DSN you could talk to about how your feeling as they should be able to help you through this difficult time.

Why not start your own thread perhaps on the pumping forum or the General forum where more people will see your posts and you will get far more replies.

@Paige.
Hi Paige welcome to our supportive forum -~ I'm so sorry to hear you are struggling and I'm not surprised that you feel overwhelmed. It sounds like your worst nightmare having to deal with so much all at once. ((((Hugs))))
Diabetes certainly isn't an easy ride by any means so I empathise with you.
One thing at a time:

I'm understanding of your concerns for your laser eye surgery next Monday and I do hope that it is successful. This will be one less worry for you once it is over. Can you arrange for someone to go with you for support?

Edited.
@Paige. Many many apologies for giving you wrong information. Please forgive my error ~ my gesture was said in good faith & I would never intentionally aggrieve yourself or anyone on this forum or otherwise.

Also what are your average blood glucose levels and insulin ratios. Sorry about all the questions but in order that we can help you we need to know just a little bit more about yourself.

There will be Type1 forum members along shortly to chat with you as to your current concerns including a pump so do please stay with us. I'm sorry I cant help you more Paige. Take care x

Hi, Thankyou for your reply!!
My next appointment is on the 26thnof this month, hopefully something is done about as they regularly hurt which is annoying! If I would of looked after myself better in my teenage years I wouldn’t be in this situation, it’s so annoying as I know it’s all probably self inflicted!

My blood sugar levels are up and down usually around 7/8 which I know isn’t perfect but at times when I feel as though I’m struggling (now) I stop testing my blood sugars for days which is my downfall as I have no idea what my sugars are or how much I should be injecting because of this!

I do 5 injections daily;
Morning; 10 of humilin I
Breakfast: 9 novorapid
Lunch: 11 novorapid
Dinner: 10 novorapid
Bed: 10 humanlin I

Thankyou for your response I don’t know anyone else who is diabetic so I thought maybe speaking to others that are may help Thankyou x

@Paige.

As I understand it kidneys leaking protein may mean your kidney disease has progressed into stage 3. As a result of the filtering units (glomeruli) being damaged, large amounts of proteins will leak through glomeruli. Proper treatment can stop it from progressing into the next stage. Paige may I ask when are you due to see your Nephrologist again? If not soon, would you consider requesting your appointment to be re-scheduled for an earlier date to discuss your concerns to alleviate your anxieties?

Also what are your average blood glucose levels and insulin ratios. Sorry about all the questions but in order that we can help you we need to know just a little bit more about yourself.

‘As I understand it kidneys leaking protein may mean your kidney disease has progressed into stage3.’

@wirralass, where did you read this? I’ve had proteinuria for decades and do not even have Stage 1 kidney disease. My GFR (glomerular filtration rate) is at normal levels and my creatinine output is within reasonable limits. I’m not even under the care of a nephrologist but my GP keeps a watching brief.

I’m saying this because I don’t want Paige to imagine she must have Stage 3 kidney disease because of proteinuria.

Hope you manage to get things under control Paige. Best wishes.

Hi Paige

This thread has told me a little more about you than what I saw in Pumping.

You list your insuiln jabs for each meal. Does that mean that they are fixed amounts or do you adjust these to match what you eat. I know that for us to be considered for a pump we had to have done the Dose Adjustmant For Normal Eating course beforehand re we could be considered, as getting the pump to work for you depends on this information being correct.

I think many of us go through patches when the daily grind of T1 gets us down, but the best advice I had was to think of it as a very irritating friend who just won't go away. You might as well get on with the person. Likewise with D.

I do hope that joining this forum helps you a lot, I know forums are not the same as face to face but we all have one thing in common , well two really, diabetes and trying to tame it. Personally I think it’s easier to discuss things as it’s not face to face.

Now please stop blaming yourself , teenage years are difficult enough with out the added err ...... bonus of diabetes. Let’s face it during those years esp the early teens, the last thing we want is to be different it’s also a rather rebellious time. At 65 I’m amazed that my parents esp my mum didn’t disown me when I was around 15 :D.

I have CKD and leaky kidneys, no pain though, could your pain be caused by a kidney infection or perhaps a stone, it might be worth checking this out with your GP rather than waiting for your next Renal ? appointment. Atm I’m just being monitored by the renal department every 6 months, so am keeping my fingers firmly crossed.
