im new to the group and relatively new to type two. I am on insulin 5 injections per day.
I've just woken up at 6am with a reading of over 33.3.. I've felt nauseous all night, so I decided to check my ketones and I have ketones!
I've given my self this morning insulin. What else should I do.
My readings have been high all over Christmas. I've just been doing my injections as normal.
Any advice would be fantastic. Feeling panicky

Hi Angela. I think you should get medical advice straight away. If possible get to A/E. although I'm not on insulin I believe if you have such high BG and ketones that's what you should do.

Angela agree with Lindarose...you need to get medical advice straight...you GP's surgery will have an emergency contact number...or call 111...the sooner the better.

Get yourself to A&E now. Don't mean to scare you, but that is dangerously high. Also sounds like you need your medication reviewed if you are still going so high on your current insulin regime.

Thank you all for the advice. I will phone my diabetes specialist nurse at 9am. I've just re tested my BG and it's still over 33.3 after injecting 22 units of novorapid and 20 units of levemir.. tested for ketones again and it's still positive +
I've felt really sickly all night, didn't get to sleep til 1am, woke up again at 5am, tried to go back to bed, ended up getting back up at 6 and that's when I first did my readings and then insulin.
I haven't eaten a thing, have had one cup of coffee with sweetener, Coke Zero with mostly ice, I crave ice.
Is it a common thing to feel or taste salt on the lips or mouth, I do not like or take salt? Is this a symptom?
Feeling shaky and unsure and pretty damn tired

I had to phone doctor on call. They've advised to go to hospital to get stabilised. Though my BG is now 21.8 so it has come down. I haven't eaten still but I'm hungry so I'm gonna have to eat something.
It really sucks, don't want to be a pain in the you know what for my husband especially on NYE

You are not a PIA. Go to hospital, sooner you go the better and you'll be fine

Hi Angela
Welcome to the forum
Fingers crossed that your numbers are down today ,if not plz don't wait , (follow good advice already posted)

This sounds like DKA, or at least like what I felt like at DX when I had DKA.

When I eventually could eat, everything - including water, tasted of salt.
