Hello. I’ve been reading the forum since my pre-diabetes diagnosis at the end of October. Had been feeling quite rough so my GP ordered a battery of tests. To my great surprise my HbAc1 is 43 mmol/mol after registering 38 a year ago. Also have high cholesterol (Serum Cholesterol 6.2) with family history of cardiac disease.
My GP has been very supportive & agreed that the pre-d is the problem I need to address first. The hope is my cholesterol will drop with weight loss & low carb meals. I’m attending the NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme (Xyla is the provider & the jury is out on that at the moment). I’ve downloaded the Freshwell app as well as Carbs & Cals to record my food intake, bought all of Katie Caldesi’s books among others. I’ve been low carb for several weeks (pescatarian) feel much better & have lost weight. I walk every day. Don’t have a sweet tooth but it appears bread, pasta and lots of fruit have been my downfall.
I bought the Contour Blue meter last week and have been testing foods/meals for spikes. Homemade pizza sent my levels rocketing with slow recovery. My fasting reading is averaging 4.5 mmol/l.
This forum is a fabulous resource and is helping me on my journey. Next HbAc1 is in February so paws crossed I will see a reduction.
Thanks for reading
