Welcome to the forum, would you like to share a bit of information about your diagnosis, what your HbA1C is if you were told as that gives an indication of how far into the diabetes zone you are and indicates how much work you need to do. Have you been prescribed any medication as that may influence what dietary approach may be suitable.
There are many people who post so have a look around the forum but be careful as people manage their condition in different ways depending on whether they are Type 2, Type 1 or some other Type so some comments may not be appropriate for you.

Good evening Leading lights, thank you for your message, I prefer not to discuss my medication etc, just yet.
This is all very new to me, (days) I just need to find my feet, as it were.Thank you .

No problem, share when you are ready, feel free to ask questions.

Welcome to the forum @Sunnyside3049

We have lots of different members on the forum, with different types of diabetes, and for different durations. All finding different combinations of adjustments to menu, alongside whatever medications are helpful, and weight loss if appropriate.

Ask away with any questions you have. Nothing will be considered too obvious or ‘silly’. 🙂

If you would like a good overview of T2 diabetes, to add to the knowledge you’ve already picked up, you might want to register for an account with the Learning Zone (the orange tab in the main menu) which is packed full of informative bite-sized modules. Additionally, for a more personal take, members here frequently recommend Maggie Davey’s Letter to the Newly Diagnosed

And feel free to share as much or as little as you are comfortable with. Remembering that the forum pages are public, of course.

Welcome. Without sharing your medication no one can give you any tips, as any diet suggestions may be unsafe depending what medication you take. Thats fine of course you don’t have to share but you will need to make sure you are checking into any suggestions you read on this forum yourself to work out whether they are unsafe or safe for you also.
