Well done! Like a lot in diabestes its tricky at first. I was show how to use my lancing device yet somehow completly failed to get it too work at first, and hand to resport to a pin!Gold Star for You.
Thank you for your reply, i have no hope of mine going under 4 as is quite high at the moment but only been on insulin just over a week and assume it is just trial and error for a while until you get your head round it all. It is a lot to take in but hopefully will get there in time. Did my finger prick first time again this morning so feeling pleased with myself lol. Have a good day and take care xWell done! Now its second nature, can (and do) pretty much do it in my sleep. It DOES get easier but there is so much at at once at first!
Concentrate on
1/ keeping youself safe...not going under 4 and if you do, treating the hypo quickly
2/ trying not to go ridiculously high
3/ keep going...it will get easier
What got me in the early days was the amount of my headspace diabetes took up. It got in the way. To be honest, i do still think about it a lot , but thats probably cos i chose to. But i don't have to, and it will also move down your list of botherations too, given time.
Don't expect to be able to do it all over night, it dies get easier, and be kind to yourself

That's the best finger prick tester.... so good work on that. I am new T1 too (hospital trip in Jan and nearly died). I have found that I need to get the test strip in the machine just before I am ready to prick my finger or it times out / errors if I take too long. I have also found that sliding the test strip into the blood helps it get on the gold plated sensor at the bottom better, you can't dip it in the blood (I hope that makes sense) and the most important for me is making sure my fingers aren't cold!! In the colder months at first I struggled getting blood anytime my fingers were cold.It is the accu-chek fast clix, the blood running down isn't all the time as sometimes my fingers just don't want to give up the blood. Had a little cry tonight as was just so frustrated with it. I guess i just need more practice x
