These two men have a plant-based diet to improve insulin sensitivity:

They have a course you have to pay for, but you don’t have to do that - just look at the free resources or Google or look up the book elsewhere.
Hi Inka, I stumbled across a podcast last night from these guys and was interested in their approach and testimony. It's such a radical difference in diet to that which my diabetes team have been advocating for the last 7 years I know I would soon fall off the wagon. Are you following this or a similar diet and how are you getting on with it?

Not at the moment @sololite but I did do a very similar diet in the past and it did increase my insulin sensitivity, even though it was already very good. It was such a strong effect that videos I watched to get tips warned about it for insulin users in case they were caught unawares and had a hypo. So, if anyone is on glucose-lowering meds, I’d advise getting into it gradually in order that meds can be adjusted. I’ve also tried a raw vegan diet that was really interesting and gave me loads of energy.

Now I eat a number of plant-based meals each week (for general health reasons) and really enjoy them.

I'm still trundling along the Atkins way of eating option. I decided to do some testing again and find that my after eating levels are in the mid 6's, so I think I'll be sticking to the low carb approach to my menus.
I have been eating avocados for breakfast recently though - I will go back to eggs, meat or fish when the price goes up again. The seeds are rather tempting though - I wonder, what with global warming, if I could grow one in the conservatory....

I admire your will power. It shows how much food enjoyment is a huge part of my life, just the thought of cutting out all the things listed on the podcast made me miserable.

There’s always a middle way 🙂 Use the bits that appeal from a number of diets and create your own personal diet. That’s what I’ve done. It’s all a balance, like so many things.
