Hello all, after 2 years of being pre diabetic I’ve finally slipped over and had the dreaded phone call from the Dr at the age of 55. My number is 49 and I have to repeat blood test in 2 weeks. I understand my starting point is quite small compared to others I’ve read on here but I know it’s a lifelong condition.

My question to other members who had a similar number to mine, were they able to bring number down and how long did it take them to do it? I need to lose 2 stone and hoping the big change in diet will sort it (fingers crossed).

Thanks xx

Yes, you have the right plan. Aim to lose 2 stone over the next three months and see if that does the trick.

It took me 3 months to lose 15 Kg (35 lb) and get my HbA1c down to 39.

Thank you for the prompt reply. It’s so positive to read you managed to bring your HbA1c down within 3 months by loosing weight, well done. It’s certainly given me a massive kick up the bum getting this diagnosis and I’ll do whatever I can to reverse it as I know I’ve ignored for too long.

Down from 50 to 42 in 3 months and to 38 in another 6 (when the next test was) by following the principals in the Freshwell project. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/
This is a low carb approach which is my new normal way of eating.
Thanks for replying and informing me of Freshwell (I’ve downloaded app) what a godsend that will be doing my weekly shop. Well done on getting down to 38 within six months you’ve done so well. Carbs have definitely been my issue.
