Hello Jackie and welcome. Interesting summary.

I met someone at an old school 150 yr anniversary party last week; c. 10 yrs younger than me and we'd never met before. He was telling me he'd been T1 for over 40 years and happily staying with MDI - with no desire to move into any form of pumping. Just happy to stick with what he's always done. He admitted he'd had some hospitalizations solely because he'd not managed his D as well as he might; in talking about his work in geology he was clearly happy using IT on a daily basis. I would like to get a pump, but would find the cost challenging without NHS support - but seem a long way from being eligible.

We both agreed Libre 2 had been a major step forward for D management; he was very content with that progression. I think its great, but still antiquated in relation to what it could do. Eg needing to flash scan, when it could be truly continuous; or only having one upper and lower alarms when so much more could be provided with today's smart tech.

Anyway, It struck me quite forcefully as we were talking how different we all are in our approach to managing (accepting?) health concerns. Sorry, I'm waffling, putting off an outstanding task! Again, welcome.

Welcome to the forum @JackieD44

Good to have you here!

We have followed a pretty similar path I think! I was Dx in my early 20s in 1991.

A lot of jabs (and more recently set / sensor changes) later and I’m still plugging away trying to work out what mischief and nonsense my diabetes will throw my way day to day.

Is there anything in particular that has prompted you to connect with the forum at the moment? How ling have you been podding? And how do you find them? Will you be tempted to try their hybrid closed loop when it launches?
