You can just click on 'New Posts' on the line below the main forum heading Charlie, this should show you new posts that have appeared (although it does have a habit of sometimes thinking that you have read them all!).

How far apart were your tests, and how long after eating? How long after getting up did you test?

Why do you say OMG to a reading of 7.4? That sounds perfectly OK to me.
Sometimes you can get different readings if they are close together - did you use the same blood sample or rejab yourself? Sometimes sqeezing too hard to get the blood out can introduce errors as well. Wash you hands in warm water and dry them well and then try a jab. If you don't get enough blood try another finger or increase the setting of your lancing device.

You should have a target agreed with your GP (fat chance), I work to :
fasting 4-7, 2hrs after 5-10 Pref <8.5 NICE 2008 guidelines

or see here: http://www.diabetes.co.uk/diabetes_care/blood-sugar-level-ranges.html

If I can explain readings above these targets then I live with it, if not I take action to reduce it (like omitting carbs at the next meal, skipping breakfast etc).

What is the ideal BG first thing in the morning.
I think its a case of what is your personal target. 7.4 would not get OMG for me, but it would be yuk. Especially if it arrived out of the blue.

But early on in my diagnosis I would have certainly got those kind of numbers, especially before I adjusted my diet and got my weight down (medication probably helped also).
