Hi all
Seen my doctor yesterday and was told I have type 2, I have an appointment with the practice nurse on Tuesday(12th) to sort my medication/diet etc, I got to admit I'm feeling a bit confused and shocked by it all.

Hi Wil7985, welcoem to the forum 🙂 Very srry to hear about your diagnosis :( How did it come about? It can be a very big shock, and there is a lot to take in, but the good news is that it is a condition that can be managed very well with the right information and application 🙂 Treatments and knowledge are very good these days, and getting better all the time.

A good place to start is by reading Jennifer's Advice and Maggie Davey's letter - these will give you a good idea of what it is all about. I'd also recommend getting a copy of a highly recommended book: Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year by Gretchen Becker - very practical and positive in outlook. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns and we will do our best to help out.

Hi and welcome Wil - it's blooming scary isn't it!

I was diagnosed last December from the results from a blood test for another reason. As Northerner says - it is easily managed but it will take some lifestyle choice changes. Nothing too drastic but limiting the amount of carbs will be a great step to take.

If you have any questions just ask away - there are plenty around who can help.

Welcome to the forum.🙂 That moment you are first diagnosed is terrifying. Thankfully, you've found this forum which has helped me no end. There is a lot to take in but try not to worry. Its possible to live a perfectly normal life with type 2 once you get to grips with things. We are all here to help.🙂

Thanks for the welcome guy's, I have a lot of reading to do and probably a lot of questions to ask!!.

Hi Wil7985, welcome to the forum. There is a lot to take in at the start but you are in the right place with lots of advice available. Keep asking questions.
