Hi Dave and welcome again! ( I just responded to your meal plan query)

There is wealth of advice and experience on here and I'm sure other helpful people will be along soon with advice. Feel free to keep asking questions and everyone here will be happy to help you out. 🙂

Have you been prescribed any medication at the moment, or are you managing with diet & exercise?
What advice have you had so far? The main thing to focus on is carbohydrates, as all carbs break down into glucose in the body. Understanding how many carbs you are having per meal and the speed at which different carbs absorb in your body can be a helpful start. So things like bread, pasta, potatoes and rice are likely to cause your BG levels to rise. So focusing on proteins, or healthy fats, fruit* and veg and reducing the size of your carb portions is one approach that some people find helpful.
*See advice on fruit here: https://www.diabetes.org.uk/Guide-t...-with-diabetes/Food-groups/fruit-and-diabetes

Many members here find that testing BG levels and keeping a food diary, especially when newly diagnosed, can help you to understand how different foods affect your BG levels as well.

Best of luck and glad that you found us 🙂

yes i am on medication and i got to see nurse on friday for a update that will be my first week

Hi Dave. Welcome to the group 🙂there is a wealth of information here to tell you all you need to know to get to grips with this. Most of us follow the low carb high good fat approach, as Hannah has said it is carbs that are our biggest enemy, these little devils will push your blood glucose up! Testing is key to working out what foods work for you or not but be prepared, your gp may not agree as they won’t prescribe type 2’s testing strips as it costs too much, but if you don’t test, it’s really hard to get things under control. Most of us use the code free meter as it’s the cheapest and the test strips are under £8 for 50, do take some time to read some of the other posts, there is a wealth of information to digest. Ask any questions you may have. We are quite a friendly bunch :D
