Sorry to hear you’ve been told you are at risk of developing diabetes - and by text too!
You aren’t alone in feeling overwhelmed by the news. It can come as a shock, and can take some time to process, but many also later reflect that it was a sort of catalyst that helped kickstart some healthy and positive changes - improving their diet, getting more active, and losing some weight they had been intending to shift but never quite managed to do.
In general terms it is the overall carbohydrate content of your meals which will be putting pressure on your metabolism’s ability to regulate blood glucose levels. There are obvious things like cakes, biscuits, sweets and sugary drinks that you will want to cut out straight away, you might be surprised how much *all* carbohydrate affects your BG levels, including rice, pasta, potatoes, bread, pastry, grains, cereals and many fruits.
You don’t have to avoid those things entirely, but systematically reducing portion sizes and opting for lower carb swaps can really help.
