Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hey hey! Just wanted to introduce myself 🙂

I was diagnosed with Type 2 last week and still not quite sure what to think about it to be honest. I guess four days is not an awful lot of time to get used to being told something like that!

I've known for ages that I really needed to loose weight so this has really pushed me into doing something about it. I've even banned my boyfriend from baking. And believe me, his baking is amazing!

Anyway, it's great to know that this place is here for support and I'm sure will answer some of the billion questions I have going round in my head!

Really looking forward to getting to know you all :D

Hi Sarah and welcome! A fellow Northerner (just up the road from me!). You'll find tons of advice and support on here. You've come to the right place!🙂 Katie

Hi Sarah, welcome to the forum 🙂 Please feel free to ask your questions and we will try our best to help! Many people have found that their diagnosis has been the push to improve their health generally, so stay positive 🙂

I would recommend having a look at our 'Useful Links' thread - the book Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year by Gretchen Becker is especially recommended by many of our members. Are you on any medication for your diabetes?

We have a meeting due in Manchester on November 17th if you'd like to meet up for a face-to-face chat, details here:

I look forward to hearing more from you 🙂

Thank you for the links. I'll certainly have a look around. And the book looks interesting.

At the moment I'm on Metformin for the diabetes and Lisinopril for my blood pressure. And under very strict instructions to loose weight!

Awww, I would have loved to come to the meet up but I'm at a wedding that weekend. Thank you anyway though 🙂
