Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
🙂🙂 Hi guys first ever post back from gp appointment went from pre to type2 to quickly still having problems dealing with this to be onest bit of s shocker maybe you guys might be able to point me in the right direction

Hiya! Once you'd been told you had pre diabetes, what changes to your diet and activity level have you already made to try and stop it progressing? Did you actually receive any advice about that?

Welcome to the forum @Piere

That feeling of shock and being knocked sideways is completely natural and understandable.

Diabetes is serious, but it’s also something which can usually be well managed with a few changes and adaptations. It shouldn’t stop you from doing anything you want to, and it’s something you should be able to learn to live well with.

There are two main strategies used by forum members in terms of food,

One is to restrict calories (including for some a very low calorie 800 cal ‘Newcastle’diet) aiming to lose weight, particularly visceral fat around the organs

The other is to focus on blood glucose management, generally by reducing or moderating carbohydrate intake. Sometimes called ‘eating to your meter’.

Do you know what your HbA1c was at diagnosis? This can give an indication of whether some modest tweaks, or more wholesale changes are required.

Good luck and keep asking away with any questions you have 🙂
