They showed it on ITV - This Morning - yesterday, in their medical news snippets with Mark Porter.
He did say that the wearer was able to release it in an emergency, eg panic attack, vomiting, but added that this meant they could also release it to eat! He saw it as a very short-term thing where very rapid weight loss was needed for perhaps surgery.

Which is why the jaw should be wired together instead - the old ways are always the best, our grandparents didn't make this country great by having emergency releases on their food-consumption devices! 😱 😉 :D
