I was scrolling throug Google news and apparently the International Dabetes Association has discovered a type of diateses called type 5. It seems to be linked to malnutrition and is hereditary. Articles has it would be treated the same as type 1 and would need a good diet as well. Has anyone else seen this?
 
There are two other threads on the forum about it by @Amity Island and by @Northerner

I wondered if this perhaps explained the higher incidence of diabetes in Asian and African countries where children are more likely to be malnourished.
