Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hello all, hope this will get to where it's supposed to be going.New to site but not to Type 2,having been diagnosed at a well man clinic when I turned 50 and found that I wasn't as well as I thought.State of play is that I see a practice nurse yearly for blood test and general diabetic MOT,plus annual retinopathy test.Currently on Metformin 500 twice daily and Gliclazide 80 daily.Stuck at 15 stones for some time now,but GP seems OK with it as long as HB is down about 39.
Have all the usual screening programmes bar chiropody(as I am too well to get it),and attend my local support group as well.Have recently signed up to "My diabetes my way" to help me self monitor a bit better.
Started having vertigo recently which GP is looking into as blood pressure and weight have been creeping up.Don't test myself at all,due to my being a bit wibbly wobbly about needles(apart from injecting other people as a nurse, which was no problem).Anxiety an issue for me,which leads me to eat more to avoid hypos because I live alone.
I don't want to go on too much for my first post as stammerers can be awful blethers, but will watch and learn from others about what and how to post.

Welcome aboard, good to have you...........

I am sure your experiences can help other tremendously.......🙂

Welcome aboard NurseBill, your comment about being wobbly with needles made me smile, my friend is a phlebotomist so stabs people all day, but nearly fainted when she used my blood sugar meter, I thought she was the only one. I'm a bit the other way, very stab happy!
