Hi everyone - I was diagnosed with type 2 insulin dependent diabetes 2 weeks ago. Anyone had any side effects from Gliclazide? I stopped taking them on Monday when my insulin was started and feel a lot better. Not sure what the nurse will say tomorrow but my levels have gone done from 33 to 7.5.

Welcome to the forum @Holdbrook

I am not able to advise on Gliclazide, but whatever you are Dil seems to be having a good impact on your levels. Well done.

Welcome to the forum @Holdbrook 🙂

Wow! That’s a whopping reduction in your BG levels. Congratulations! Hopefully the speed of the reduction won’t have put too much stress in your fine blood vessels, which unfortunately can happen for some people.

Not sure what side effects you felt you had from Glic? Were they listed in the Patient Information Leaflet?

Glad you have the opportunity to chat things through with your nurse tomorrow.

Which insulin(s) are you on?

Lantas SoloSTAR?

Solostar is just the name of the actual insulin pen - the insulin name is Lantus.
