Kirsty - can I ask whether you have ever done Basal testing? If you can get your Basal insulin right, control is so much more logical from there. Have a read of this - http://www.diabetes-support.org.uk/info/?page_id=120

All of our insulin needs vary from time to time so we can never say 'I am on 12 units of Lantus every night and always will be' cos we won't!

Thanks for that Jenny, I have tried this before but only with missing lunch. I was on a DAFNE course 2 years ago which I learnt a lot from but I seem to be slipping back into bad habits. I just need to not worry so much when my bs is 5 or 6 thinking that I will have a hypo once I step out of the front door (this used to happen a lot before my basal doses were changed). My main concern with hypos is that it can wipe me out for half a day, my recovery time gets longer the older I get for some reason though this doesn't happen every time!
I will be braver from now on 😉
