Hello all, was diagnosed 20/4/22 and was left about a month before DN gave my my call back. I had already cut out free sugar and down on carbs ( bread, potatoes, pastry, pasta, etc) so was just told to carry on with that and will be retested in 4 mths. I 'm also due a 'Control It' education session later this month - may be a Scottish thing? No meds as yet.

HbA1C was 107 and I bought a BG monitor which, after a scattergun approach where I went through a pot of strips really fast I learned on here how to test before and 2 hours after meals to see how the body's coping so thanks for that !
I seem to vary around 7 - 11 which doesn't seem good so I'm planning to look at the Freshwell link in more detail.

I was interested the other newbie Paul D didn't get his HbA1C initially either as nor did I. Indeed the results line person said they 'didn't have it' which I didn't really believe but guess they wanted the DN to give the news.

Cheers

I hope you find the Freshwell approach useful for you as it seems very good.
The levels to be aiming for are 4-7mmol/l before meals and no more than a 2-3mmol/l increase after 2 hours but once your levels start to come down then aim for no more than 8-8.5 mmol/l 2 hours post meal.
