Hi @Malcolm139, and welcome to the forum. Looks like you have got two problems, getting your head round this site and getting your head around a T2 diagnosis! No problem, we are a friendly bunch and do our best to help you out on both counts.

How did you come to be diagnosed?

I had my medication review it was picked up from that so had another test which said I had it. Thanks for your reply

One of the first things to get your head round is the idea that diabetes is not an on/off thing. Its more of a sliding scale. The best measure of where you are on the scale is the result of the test used for diagnosis in which something called the HbA1c level in blood is measured. This number varies from 30 to well into three figures. Below 42 is non diabetic, between 42 and 48 puts you at risk of diabetes and over 48 gets you a diagnosis of diabetes. Quite what needs doing depends on your result. If it is a bit above 48, then a few tweaks might be all that is needed to get it back down. If it is a lot higher then more thought needs to be given to getting it down.

Did you get an HbA1c when given the diagnosis? If not, it's worth calling your surgery to ask for it because finding where you are on the scale is a good starting point when it comes to working out a way forward.
