Hi Steve. I've ordered the starter pack with the extra strips and lancets. Thank you. I'm a bit nervous about first attempts but I'm sure I'll get used to it. Thanks we are off to Barbados - so excited!
Excellent.!!!! Enjoy the trip.😎

Hi Mike,
Thank you for the support, much appreciated.
I had my first BG test yesterday afternoon, first 1 came in at 6.5, after tea and 2 hours passed had a reading of 8.3.

That’s a rise of only 1.8mmol/L, which is great. Clearly whatever you ate suited you well 🙂
this morning the test was 8.2 before food. would this be correct after fasting/sleeping overnight???

Ah yes! That ole chestnut. Blame our cave dwelling forebears who needed a bit of a boost in the early hours (or immediately on rising) to fire up the burners to snaffle a woolly mammoth for breakfast. The same dump of glucose happens for all of us, but for us with a wonky metabolism it can throw a spanner in the works for the first reading of the day. Sometimes called Dawn Phenomenon, or Foot On The Floor

Many find their pre-breakfast / waking reading is the last to come into line. Be patient - it will come.

It was a Weight Watchers Chicken Tikka Masala, with rice.
Thanks for the info Mike, all greatly recieved.
Attached is a snip of my 1st go at a food diary.

Is the 'Epeprazole' really Omeprazole?

Is the 'Epeprazole' really Omeprazole?
I was thinking it could be esomeprazole in which case it would be wise to get Vit B12 levels checked as it can affect the ability of the body to absorb Vit B12 from foods as I believe can metformin.

No, it is Esomeprazole, used for Acid Reflux.
I would urge you to get your vit B12 checked as my O H was on that and was found to be very low in B12 which caused him joint and muscle aches. He now has 3 monthly injections of B12 as of course oral B12 would not be absorbed. The drug inhibits the production of intrinsic factor required to absorb B12 from foods. Needless to say he no longer takes it.

Interesting to know. I have had multiple joint pain for over a year now, I am currently on the sick with the very thing. i am calling the doctor tomorrow about the sore feet, I will mention the B12 then.
Cheers.
