Relationship to Diabetes
Other Type
Hello,

I wanted to introduce myself as a newbie to the forum.

I have Type 3C (or 'other' or 'secondary Diabetes treated with Insulin') after suffering Severe Acute gallstone Pancreatitis 10 years ago.

I carb count and have had a Freestyle Libre for almost a year.

I joined this forum to try and find some support so as not to feel so alone. I don't know anyone else with Diabetes, specifically on Insulin, who I can compare notes with. I feel very isolated and recently I have been struggling with this.

I am looking forward to reading tbe threads on the forum, learning lots and hopefully feeling a bit more confident in managing my diabetes.

Thanks for reading. 🙂

Hello @Ladlegirl and welcome to the forum 🙂

Sorry to hear you're feeling so isolated. We've lots of insulin-users here (and Libre users) and there are several other members with type 3C.

If there's anything in particular you're struggling with or any questions you have please do let us know, someone here is sure to be able to help.

Evening @Ladlegirl

I’m also sorry to hear you feel isolated. Even when you’re surrounded by well meaning and understanding people, you just want to chat or rant to someone who really “gets it”, don’t you? Well there are plenty of people here who “get it” and will know exactly how you’re feeling, whether it’s an unexpected disappointing result or a fantastic result after lots of hard work. There’s always someone to share with or listen...maybe not many this late...but they’ll pop along later.

I can’t help with 3c I’m afraid, but as Juliet mentions there are several type 3c members for you to compare notes with. Are there any DUK support groups in your area?

How do you find the Libre? I must admit I love it, it’s not perfect of course, but I now wonder how I managed without it. I wonder what the next bit of tech is just round the corner...something that no doubt will make the Libre look quite out of date.

Anyway, welcome along. Looking forward to hearing more from you.🙂

Good morning @Ladlegirl

Sorry to hear that you are feeling so isolated with your diabetes, but glad that you have found the forum.
There are others with Type 3c, and also plenty of help strategies for managing glucose levels, and making effective use of the Libre.

As @Lisa66 says this is good place to be in touch with people who understand what it is like to have to manage D day-by-day. If there is anything in particular that is bothering you about your management just ask. Or if you just want to have a moan that is fine too. Plenty of help and support available i. Here, and I have learnt most of what I know from others on here.

Yes welcome to the forum Ladlegirl. 🙂
I did not even know there was a type 3c, everyday a schoolday eh? 🙄

No need to feel isolated and as already stated, no need to post serious stuff, just enter for a natter or whinge. It is all good! :D

Welcome to the forum Ladlegirl

Thank you all for such a warm welcome!

@Lisa66 I do love my libre, it has really made life so much easier and, like you, I'm already thinking about what wonderful tech I'd currently being developed that will come along next.
