Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi I'm new to to this forum. I've had type 2 for about 2 years but don't do what I should I've now been told I've to have a liver scan as I have a fatty liver I'm a bit worried. Has anyone here gone through this? From what I've read it can be turned surround but with my track record I'm going to find it difficult.

Hi Pebbles 51, welcome to the forum 🙂 I don't know a great deal about fatty liver, but I do recall hearing from other members that they had indeed turned it around, so it is possible.

Are you on any medication for your diabetes?

Hi I take two 500mg metformin twice a day. That's just been increased recently.

Hope you are not having too much trouble from the side effects 🙂 From what you say, I'm guessing you have found things difficult managing your diabetes - if there is any way we can help, then please do let us know! Have you been on any diabetes education courses to help you manage things? Do you test your levels at home so you know how your meals are affecting you?

Welcome to the forum Pebbles 51 🙂

There was another on here diagnosed with a fatty liver, but I believe he rowed away from it 🙂

Welcome to the forum, Pebbles 51. Why do you think you won't be able to turn round your fatty liver, now that you've researched what you need to do?

Hi yes I went on the Dennis (I think that's what it was called) course when I was first diagnosed it was very informative. I think maybe I should look over the info I got again. I guess I just need to sort myself out like everyone I have a busy life and make lots of excuses not to eat sensibly. I don't check my blood myself but maybe I should

Hi Pebbles and welcome 🙂 Like you I ignored my diabetes for a couple of years then decided it was too important an issue and I started to learn more about it and what I could do to help myself. It does take a bit of time and effort and it's not always easy but definitely worth testing your bg levels before and an hour then 2 hours after food (to start with) Record readings and foods eaten Then you can see progress and improvements Good luck

Good idea to look at your course notes again. Best to concentrate on what you can fit into your busy life eg simple changes to make packed lunches and meals at home more suitable; fitting in any walking, cycling etc that you can.

You can do it!

Welcome to this forum, you will get lots of advice & encouragement here

Just by chance the thread immediately to yours was very similar; New to this by deedee
