Relationship to Diabetes
I have noticed for a few weeks my lips and skin tasting very sweet , as both parents diabetic I was worried . I suffer with anxiety and depression and have been afraid to go to doctor.
Bought blood testing kit today . Tested about an hour after eating 2 slices brown bread and butter and was 7.5
Is this high ? Would this account for chronic fatigue and falling asleep early in the day which has been happening lately ?
If I go to doctor what will they likely do ?
Have read about Michael Mossely diet which sounds amazing . Would that be a good thing ? Thank you for any advice

Hi Minnie. You need to get an appointment to see a doctor. Your problems could be anything but are also signs of high blood sugars. A 7.5 1 hour after eating isn't shocking. Testing after 2 hours would show you a more accurate result. I have the Michael Mosely book but haven't followed the diet, just made some of the recipe I liked. I follow a low carb diet & have lost 4 stone & my blood sugars are now normal.

a better test would be a fasting test - 4 - 8 hrs after eating
that should be between 4 & 7 but if you have any doubts at all go to the doctors.
if it does confirm you are diabetic you can then start to take the appropriate action. ignorance is certainly not bliss in this case

Hi @Minnie54
Welcome
I must agree with other posters, @Mark Parrott @Alister and @Jeandp who suggest that you make an appointment to see your doctor.
Better safe than sorry I would say.

I know it is difficult with anxiety, but as the others have said please go to your docs, only medical professionals can make a diagnosis.
