Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi All, this is my first time on here, I was diagnosed with T2 about 4-5 weeks ago. I'm on Metformin, and currently having blood works done to test how they are helping. don't really know what else to say, I was shocked and upset when I found out, but I needed to be checked out and tested, which is a good thing. hope to chat with you along this new journey!!...

Hi Martin,
Before I got diagnosed about 3 weeks before I started a diet plan, 6 meals a day strict, portion control etc. Im a stone down and loving the results. Just getting used to it all. U in remission I read?..

As a type two you might find that eating so frequently doesn't give you such good results as it doesn't give you a rest from producing insulin.
You might consider fewer meals if your weightloss slows.
I saw a distinct improvement in blood glucose levels when I settled on eating morning and evening, with 12 hours in between meals.

Well done on the excellent weight loss so far @viperlee76

Whatever you are doing sounds like it is working well for you 🙂

Losing weight can really help with insulin sensitivity, and help your metabolism process food effectively. If you have too much visceral fat around your organs it can impair their ability to work properly.

Did you get the results of your HbA1c following your diagnosis? That’s likely to be a number above 48mmol/mol, and it can help you assess how dramatically you may need to adjust your eating plan as far as reducing carbohydrates (not just sugars) is concerned.

Welcome @viperlee76 from a fellow T2. I was also on a diet before diagnosis!

thanks all, i had my HbA1c levels checked in my recent blood test, when i was 1st diagnosed i was 87, my recent test a week ago i am now 67. which ive been told by my nurse is good. im well chuffed with that.... and on top of that i weighed in yesterday and im now 1st 5.2lb down when i started 10 weeks ago... so all in all great results i think...
also you all have a little info under your message that tells us what your on, you HbA1c results etc, how do i get that on mine?

Well done! Look at the top of the screen and click on the icon for your name next to DIABETES UK. Then click on signature, edit it and save. Hope I've explained properly.
