Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi, I’m 28 undiagnosed currently but on levemir and novarapid insulin. Finally after 2 weeks being on it my ketones are 0.1 but my bloods always average 16Mmol.

What we’re other peoples blood glucose levels early diagnostic, is this normal

Hi and welcome, your numbers are a bit high but it takes some time to get used to it.
Do you have a CGM? It's a game changer with helping manage it.

Within a couple of weeks I managed to get my average down to ~8-9 and now after a year I average about 6. It takes time and you'll get the hang of it. Make sure you do lots of reading! I found this article really helpful: https://diabetes.gifts/what-should-my-blood-glucose-levels-be-know-your-sugars/ I especially recommend the book "think like a pancreas".

Agree re 'think like a pancreas' - that and the freesyle libre were gamechangers. Yes, they are quite high but thats just your starting point-as a newly diagnosed t1 it takes time to get the levels down...i spent my first 2 weeks being miserable lying on the couch.

@Jburton1994 How are your blood sugars now? Have you been shown how to carb count and adjust your Novorapid doses?

One thing..if you use info from the internet you may hear of 'net carbs' and the advice to take the fibre content off the carbs on the packet. Ignore this. This is for the US etc only.
In the uk the carbs on the info able of a food packet do not include fibre, but in the US they do
