New T2, and uncertain how or why.

To the best of my knowledge when I was dx in the early 90s I was the only diabetic in the family, however a few years later T2 started to rear it's head, the latest is Dad who Rather oddly only sometimes has an abnormal Hb1ac and one of his cousins has recently been diagnosed T2 .
 
There are several veggie alternatives to bacon - Cheatin' Rashers, Quorn Meat Free Bacon Rashers amongst others.
See I like those, but never enjoyed the texture of the animal stuff.
