At last, I feel I can try out the Freshwell diet.
I know two things I know I will struggle with.
One is no 6 on the motto
"Eat larger portions for your main meals so you feel full, and aim to reduce/stop snacking in between. Ultimately you may wish to achieve 2 larger meals per day instead of 3 smaller ones."
The other is "Limit very milky drinks like lattes and cappuccinos to one daily"
I am hoping the latter means like Latte at Costa. I know I drink too much coffee but what do others do?
One a day......

Coffee shop coffees are usually much higher carbs than those made at home. We have a DolceGusto machine and the pods for that are not too bad for carbs, Flat white 4.3g, cafe au lait intenso 3.8g are the lowest and only use 1 pod so more economical than the others.

I am more Americano with cream out. Milk i find is definitely a no We frequently have instant or cafetière at home. Which is why yoghurt spikes me a bit two . Or does it ? i was five getting up for the day but its soon up to 6.2 Could just be dawn . So Im going to have breakfast at 10. Not brunch as such but i cant wait until one. Ill start properly on Monday and see if after a week i can do it but hubby says not today. He was in favour last night but i guess my fault as i was up half the night.

A latte or cappuccino with a large amount of milk is a lot more carbs than an americano with a dash of cream. You should be fine with that.

It very much depends which yoghurt how much sugar is in there.

Yes the small rise in the morning is likely dawn phenomenon and either wait it out as it’s dumping stored glucose you probably don’t need in your liver or have a very small near zero carb snack like a boiled egg or a matchbox of hard cheese which often stops the rise.

Why is your hubby stopping you making changes to the benefit of your health? That doesn’t sound supportive and surely it’s your decision not his? I’m assuming you aren’t forcing changes onto to him

Hubby is good but not once i get cranky. I have to eat in the morning. Whether its 5 . 17 whatever if i dont eat post shower im hard to live with. However if you read Freshwell its says you can start and try small changes. So instead of eating at 6 i have waited until later .
Its also what is practical with what one is doing that day.
I understand but if its too restrictive its definately not doable.
No he had breakfast and three dlices of toast also he can eat vast amounts as a man without weight issues no even if he was fat it eould be his choice.
Yoghurt what Greek Yoghurt is the best. Its natural an most are the same. I have tried Sainsbury’s, Tescos , Brooklea, Waitrose and alsorts . All the same . The milkmans Longley Farm is what i have half a pot off as a pot sets me off. small pot incase you think its Fage sized

However all miss the point . Can I only have one coffee a day ? And to clarify yes i will be drinking other drinks but coffee is easy warming and readily available .
Hubby will go plastic crazy if I have so many bottled tonic and fizzy water bottles. i hate tap water even boiled and cooled and filtered is even worse.

You keep saying yoghurt increases your blood glucose but by how much in what time scale and how much did you have with what. Keep some record of a before eating say 50g yoghurt with a portion of berries result and what it was after 2 hours.
Unless you are particularly sensitive to caffeine then no reason not to have your coffee.
I found it easy to keep a track of how many carbs I was/am having per day by using my Carbs and Cals book, initially weighing portions and just having 1 carby veg or thin slice of bread with my evening meal.

Black coffee for me, made from freshly ground beans.
Sometimes a teaspoon of double cream.

I’m on my fourth of the morning!

I drink percolated coffee with cream whenever I like, though I often forget about it and need to heat it up hours later. For fizzy drinks you could get a Sodastream as the drink bottles are reusable. Why they could not put the concentrates into the same bottles I do not know.
Eating low carb often results in a reduction in hunger, so snacks are not all that relevant - but eating something low carb as a snack is not going to be a problem. I often realise that I have not eaten anything all morning - like today, and that he coffee is cooking in the percolator.
These days I see so many assumptions in print which if I heard them I'd question - as in 'what harm would a snack do?' to challenge the idea that any snack has to be mostly carbs.

I have just looked at the Freshwell Veggie meal planner and it incudes breakfast on every day except Sunday and that is probably because some people tend to get up later that day, but no reason for you to do that.
I think you need to look at it in the context of the whole day if you are planning to follow a fixed meal plan rather than following general principals of a low carb regime because the carbs in one meal may then be offset by another meal which has less impact. Obviously you will need to substitute things you don't like for those you do.

To be honest, I'm not great in directives. In your shoes, I'd look at reducing my carbs, perhaps, with a view to getting to the Freshwell plan.

I know people who have put quite high HbA1c numbers into remission, using low carb, but snacking. I have never snacked, so that was never a "thing" for me, but whatever you do it has to be sustainable. Maybe quantum leaps are too much to embrace, or maybe you're an "all or nothing" person.

That you are exploring it is step in itself.

Just as an aside, I do OK with milk, and have never throttled back too much on it. I'm just mindful, but testing showed me my kryptonite foods were grains, so that's where I focused my efforts. Call it low hanging fruit, or call it targeted low carb. I don't mind.

so eat. Just make wise choices about what you eat.
if its too restrictive its definately not doable.
well it’s not likely to be sustainable if you find it overly restrictive and worse than the alternative. What that means actually in reality is different for everyone.
a pot sets me off
What does that mean? Have you got before and after readings? If it really does cause an unacceptable high then either have less or choose something else.
However all miss the point . Can I only have one coffee a day
I thought I answered that rather than missed the point. The advice is not to have more than one fancy milky coffee, especially from cafes etc. Homemade, americano etc with just a little cream is not the same thing and not what the suggested limit is talking about.

I’ve used meal plans but the portion sizes do increase my blood sugars before and after which is why i know i can only take half of yoghurt. So i cannot increase. However now that I def don't go above 10 at night i know its safe .
i am just trying out the Freshwell menus but i have to tweak as still unable to do it as it says .

As i say look at No 6 of the motto.

I have your answer now but like all of the forum its the sequence things can be typed and not seen .
Thanks now i know coffee is okay I can relax a lot.
I am poor so coffees out are treats except on holiday.
Yes , i agree with all you say.

It says may, not must. Think of it as a guide, not a rigid plan.
I agree , however for me its a goal to far. I understand thin folk with no compulsive eating disorder and not struggling with satiety achieving this. I just need to aim to get there.
It also says to change things to get there.
Its just a big climb and its tough.
Having coffee makes it doable at the moment.

wed be best buddies

How about investing in a Sodastream or something similar? There are re-usable bottles that come with the machine.
As for freshwell, maybe don't take the guidelines too literally - adjust them to your lifestyle and your needs - as long as you're still getting the excellent results you seem to be getting lately. Well done, btw, on all your hard work so far! :D :D

Yes, I feel guilty if I can't do a plan 100% which hubby is reigning me in on. If it's causing trouble change it. I don’t snack because that would go off plan and I would beat myself up over it. If I'm really hungry at the meal I have extra. When I was very hungry own swaps I did relent to a piece of cheese.
I really need to get this low-carb easy for me. I am still doing fine but yes perhaps do my best and not beat myself over a two-meal day and do another three instead.
Milk is my nemesis on the perfoma machine I go up 4 to 5 two hours after and it takes the next morning to really come back down. A pot is 125g so I have 62g which is two spoons with berries which is a sad breakfast for me.
I just need to get a regular set of menus to eat and know what I can buy out on holiday.
