New pre diabetic lady

Yes I do look at that. I even make my own sponges using ground almonds instead of flour and sweeteners instead of sugar keep the butter and eggs in recipe the same. I’ll look for more ideas on there.
As I said this forum has been more help that anything else because it isn’t easy knowing what to eat at first. Apart from the same old advice cut down on sugar. When it’s the carbs that we need to watch.
I don’t think enough is said about carbs being the thing to watch and cut down. People can be very misled by it. Thanks to this forum and all the good advice.

Hi all, Not replied earlier but have read all the very useful notes . Just started the pre diabetic nhs course which seems brilliant, hopefully by the end of the sessions I will have taught myself what I can and can’t eat and portion sizes .
I just have to get my head around it being a lifestyle change and not just being on a diet .
Might look at the carbs and cal book .

Hopefully it will be of benefit to you, many of the local courses have adopted the Freshwell approach but others sadly still push rather too many carbs for many tolerate and recommend just swapping white versions of rice, bread and pasta for brown without pointing out that they are just as many carbs and also pushing low fat which is not really needed unless it is for other conditions which require low fat. Portion size is as important as what and the book or app Carbs and Cals is quite good for that. I believe the DESMOND course I did actually gave us the book.
