Just had a mail from Bayer offering me their new Contour Next meter which exceeds the new meter accuracy standards being introduced next year. This specifies that meters have to be accurate to +/- 15% instead of the current +/-20%. The Contour next is accurate to +/-10%, enables a second blood sample within 30secs of the first and will store 800 readings (for DVLA).

If you already have a Contour meter you can upgrade for free at www.bayer.co.uk/upgrade

Thanks for the link Vic, I'd noticed this the other day and kept meaning to find out about an upgrade - my meter is about 3 years old now I think.

Im in need of an upgrade as well but not sure what to go for. Always liked Lifescan OneTouch meters but don't like the look of their newest 2 models. Swinging towards the Bayer Contour NEXT USB.

Any other recommendations?

Thanks,

NiVZ

Bit of a problem with that Link Vic, it goes to a page that says this: "The document you requested could not be found on this server". But thanks for the head's up, I'm using a Contour Next USB as my main meter and I love it, I'll check whether it's up to snuff by the new rules.

Ahah! Here, this link should work. Once you get to the page, scroll down and you'll see the upgrade options. Mine's fine apparently, good.

Looks like a great meter. Clicked on the link but got the message "healthcare professionals in your area may be unwilling to prescribe Contour Next test strips." Still trying to get terrible GlucoRx pen needles replaced with older and much better Novo Nordisk ones. Now I have a double battle to start the New Year!

.../Chose upgrade and I'm getting a free Contour NEXT USB 🙂 Said delivery could take up to 4 weeks though.
They told me that too, but it arrived within a week.
